In a very quaint and cute village hall in the Somerset countryside on a mild Monday morning, there was a small gathering of wine enthusiasts and professionals. The wine was poured and the tasting began. We were tasked with feeding these wine lovers, in particular pairing up dishes with the varied Italian wines they were tasting.
For starter, they enjoyed a simple salad of tomatoes, basil leaves, garlic croutes, Parmesan shavings and aged Balsamic.
This was followed by slow-cooked lamb shanks in a tomato and herb sauce, with garlic crushed new potatoes and vegetables.
For dessert, we put together a medley of chocolate and coffee, to really get the wine buffs testing their palates! A deep dark chocolate mousse, a bitter espresso panna cotta, paired together with a square of rich chocolate brownie and chocolate soil, a chocolate-lovers dream!
Thanks for inviting us! We’re glad you enjoyed the food, we definitely enjoyed the wine!
