Lee and Rachel’s Wedding – Sherborne Castle, Dorset and The Grange, Somerset – Saturday 24th October 2015

9Rachel was an incredibly organised Bride. She had everything planned perfectly! They both wanted an informal affair with just 60 guests, and plenty of great food and booze!

The ceremony was held in The Orangery at Sherborne Castle in Dorset which was such a beautiful setting! It was sat next to the lake, and despite it being a slightly drizzly day, the weather held out and it was still a magical place to be!6

After they were pronounced, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed some canapés and Champagne around the Orangery. These were:

Crispy Carrot Cakes with Parsnip Mash and Micro Herbs

Seared Beef Fillet with Béarnaise on a Garlic Crostini

Lime and Ginger Scallop Ceviche with Spring Onions, Sesame Seeds and Mango

Filo Baskets of Home-Smoked Duck, Mango and Pomegranate Seeds

Heart-Shaped Walnut Croutes with Spiced Pear Chutney and Dorset Blue Vinny

After the drinks and canapés, the guests were driven off through the country lanes in a double decker bus (!), back to The Grange in Horsington, Somerset, which is a lovely little retreat set in a quaint country village. Then the real party started!

Guests enjoyed 15 other different canapés on arrival! All very different and exciting! Later on in the evening, our waitresses carried around trays of bowl food:

Duck Leg Confit and Juniper Berry Cottage Pie, with Buttery Thyme Mashed Potato

4Slow-Cooked Lamb Tagine with Toasted Almonds, Apricots, Prunes, Dates and Jewelled Cous Cous

Seared Tuna Salad with Pickled Ginger, Baby Capers, Toasted Sesame Seeds and Wasabi Dressing

Fragrant Thai Green Vegetable Curry with Wild Rice

Dorset Blue Vinny Croquettes with Wilted Spinach, Quinoa, Spiced Pear Puree and Walnuts

There was much eating and drinking late into the morning! I later heard that 4am was last orders! It was a great day and we were all pleased to be a part of this wedding.
